More than a half of the park, 607 805 acre, is covered by Harding Icefield which is interrupted by an occasional "jagged nunatak" - eskimo for "lonely peak". Best access is to Exit Glacier, where is in summer possible go by a car from Seward Highway. In the winter you can go by crosscountry skis, snowmobile, dogsled or on snowshoes :) Anywhere else you can get only by boat or you have to fly.
Infront of Exit Glacier is great opportunity to watch influence of glacier on Earth. Wide barren valley of U-shape made by glacier is slowly reclaimed first by plants and than by animals.
