This recreation area you can visit by boat or by foot. From Seward you can use a Coastal Trail. If you decide to hike you have to take care about tide. Difference between high and low tide could be such big like 10m. Here along Alaska coast is differece the biggest over the world. Between Tonsina point and Derby Cove is possible hike just in lowe tide because steep cliffs. You can get free "Time schedule" in visitor's centre in Seward.
On the end of trail is Fort McGilvray. The fort is perched on a 650 foot rocky cliff that offers dramatic views. Here are the firing platform of the two 6 inch guns that once sat ready to defend the Port of Seward.
In this area are several trails but be aware of bears :).
