Glen Canyon Dam was authorized by the U.S. Congress in April and first blast occurred on October 15. 1956. It was done in 1966. Nowadays it is second biggest dam in the USA. The Glen Canyon started swamp in r.1963 and first initial filling stopped in June 22 1980. By swamping canyon arisen one of the biggest artificial lake in the world - Powell Lake. The lake is almost 300km long and offers 3 136 km long shoreline that backing in and out of numerous side canyons. The hydroelectric power produced at Glen Canyon Dam travels to Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico and Nebraska. Dam provides free excursions.
